The City of Belleville is in good financial shape.
The city’s auditors, KPMG, presented the 2021 financial statements to council Monday night.
Mayor Mitch Panciuk said the city’s assets are higher, debt is lower, and the cash on hand is higher than it was at the end of 2020.
“At the end of the day the City of Belleville is a business like others and this is a very very attractive financial statement. It shows that we are in very very strong shape and a lot of other municipalities are envious of us being in this position.”
Several members of council praised the city’s finance department and it’s Director and Treasurer Carol Hinze for its work in applying for and getting a lot of grant money from the provincial and federal governments in the past year.
