Upgrades are coming to Picton’s watermain system.
On Tuesday, Prince Edward County Council agreed on a deal which will see RW Tomlinson Ltd. installing a new watermain in the Picton Urban Boundary that extends the existing watermain along Millennium Trail and Finnegan Drive.
Consulting Engineering firm, Jewell Engineering, was contracted to complete the design associated with the project. Following contractor reviews and cost analysis, the lowest tender submission received was from RW Tomlinson Ltd. in the amount of $1,194,164 plus applicable taxes.
The new watermains have been sized with due consideration for the proposed new 160-bed Long-Term Care Home being located on the Age-in-Place lands, and to accommodate future developments on adjacent properties.
Completion of a looped watermain system serves the future developments in East Picton. The new system will improve water quality by virtue of circulation, reducing stagnant water and associated flushing occurrences.
The project is part of the multi-phased plan for the County’s Water Distribution Network as identified in the Picton East Master Servicing Report in June of 2017.
