United Way Hastings & Prince Edward is launching its Backpacks for Success program. It is to ensure that all students attending school in Hastings & Prince Edward Counties have the opportunity to participate fully in their education. A referral is not required, and registration is open to all families who needs help sending their kids back to school well equipped for the school year.
“The first 1000 students registered will receive a backpack; equipping students with the tools they need and preparing them for success in school,” states Melanie Cressman, Director of Donor Relations. “Helping kids be all they can be sets the foundation for a successful future.”
Backpacks for Success will be filling backpacks with grade appropriate supplies for students from kindergarten to grade 12.
Backpacks can be purchased by families for $12.00 each, per child. Families and individuals must register in order to receive their backpack(s). Registration opens Monday, June 20th and closes on Friday, July 8th, while quantities last.
