Another family physician is coming to Quinte West, the 13th doctor recruited by the Docs By The Bay Physician Recruitment and Retention Program since 2018.
Dr. Owen Kavanagh has signed a Medical Services Agreement and will begin practising in early fall at the Quinte West site of the Belleville-Quinte West Community Health Centre (BQWCHC).
He will be building his practice from patients on the health centre’s waitlist.
Originally from Courtice, Dr. Kavanagh has worked as a family physician in Beamsville since 2018.
He studied Health Sciences at the University of Ottawa and received his Doctor of Medicine degree from McMaster University in Hamilton where he also completed his family medicine residency.
“I’m looking forward to returning closer to where I grew up and raising my family in a community full of hiking, outdoor experiences and fun local breweries. Our welcome has been incredibly warm and I’m excited to raise my family here and to be a part of this community.” said Dr. Kavanagh. “I love sports, and am a long-suffering Toronto sports fan (Go Leafs/ Raps/ Jays!). Our family loves outdoor activities – cycling, walking, hiking, and just about any water activity you could name.” he remarked.
Aleesha Camp, Chair of the Docs By the Bay Physician Recruitment and Retention Committee remarked, “We are so pleased that Dr. Kavanagh has chosen Quinte West and we welcome him and his family to our community – the perfect location for all the activities they enjoy!”
Patients selected for Dr. Kavanagh’s practice will be contacted directly by the BQWCHC and the health centre is asking residents not to call the office yourself.
