Quinte West OPP seized a stolen motorcycle and a prohibited firearm after responding to a hit and run Monday morning in Trenton.
Officers responded to the area of Sidney Street and Hollandale Avenue around 10 a.m. where witnesses reported a motorcycle rear-ended a passenger van.
The driver of the motorcycle allegedly fled on foot but was arrested a short time later with the assistance of the Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit in the area of Kidd Avenue.
The motorcycle was reported stolen in Leeds and Grenville County several years ago.
A search led to the recovery of the prohibited firearm and ammunition.
Thirty-year-old Ryan McManus of Napanee faces charges:
Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm;
Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose;
Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order – Three Counts;
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000;
Driving while under Suspension;
Fail to Remain;
Fail to Rep ort Accident;
Careless Driving; and
Drive Motor Vehicle, No Plates
The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on June 14, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
