A container of open alcohol led to weapons charges against a Belleville man in Cobourg Monday evening.
Cobourg Police on general patrol near George and Havelock Streets stopped an individual holding an open can of beer.
A search of the individual and his belongings resulted in the seizure of a loaded black Glock pellet gun, a balaclava and a quantity of illicit cannabis.
Further investigation revealed the accused was under a court order prohibiting him from possessing weapons.
19-year-old Nicholas Baumhour is charged with:
1. Having Liquor in Open Container in Unauthorized Place
2. Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
3. Carry Concealed Weapon
4. Two counts of Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
5. Possession of Illicit Cannabis
He was to appear for a bail hearing Tuesday.
Cobourg Police have responded to three calls for service involving replica firearms in the last month.
