Two people have been charged after they fled from police.
Lennox and Addington OPP were called to a home in Napanee last Friday morning for a possible stolen vehicle.
Prior to police arrival, two people had fled the scene.
Officers from Tyendinaga Police Service stopped the vehicle a short time later on Cannery Road. The two occupants then fled from police on foot. The female passenger was quickly arrested, while the male driver fled on foot into the woods.
The OPP Canine Unit and members of the East Region Emergency Response Team were called to assist in locating the driver, who was arrested a short time later. Investigation revealed that the vehicle was stolen.
Randall Gibson, 39, of Centre Hastings, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
· Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 – two Counts
· Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
· Resist peace officer
· Operation while prohibited
· Dangerous operation
· Flight from peace officer
· Bribery of officers
· Driving while under suspension – Two Counts
· Race a motor vehicle – Excessive Speed
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Sherri Tremblay, 35, of Quinte West, Ontario, was arrested and charged with:
· Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 – two Counts
· Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
· Resist peace officer
· Operation while prohibited
· Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on July 19.
