Local public health officials are encouraging all eligible individuals to get a fourth dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
The Hastings Prince Edward Health Unit says to be eligible for a second booster or fourth dose you must be 60 years old or older, OR First Nation, Inuit and Métis individuals aged 18 and over or a non-Indigenous household member aged 18 and over.
It is recommended you wait five months (140 days) after your third dose. “As we all begin to resume many regular activities, keeping up to date with recommended doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will help protect you and those around you,” says Dr. Ethan Toumishey, Medical Officer of Health and CEO at HPEPH. “Learning to live with COVID-19 does not mean ignoring the virus. If eligible, take advantage of the protection available through a fourth dose of COVID-19 vaccine to help reduce your risk.”
You can get a fourth dose a number of ways including at local pharmacies, select community clinics, through appointments available on the provincial booking system.
