NOTICE: County seeks public input on future of organics program

Staff are asking residents to fill out a short survey about the organics program and how they currently manage food waste. The survey, which will take approximately five minutes to fill out, will help staff prepare recommendations to Council.

Staff plan to present a report to the Committee of the Whole on Thursday, June 9 with recommendations and a summary of the consultation findings.

The survey will remain open until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24.  Residents can fill out the survey online through the County’s online engagement site, Have Your Say. Hard copies are also available at the municipal offices located at The Edward Building customer service desk (280 Picton Main Street, Suite 103) Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Currently, green bin organic waste is collected weekly on residents’ regularly scheduled garbage pick-up day. A bag tag is not required for green bin collection. The program is not available for commercial use, large-scale public facilities or apartment buildings. Visit the County website to learn more about the current organics program.
