More provincial funding is coming to Hastings County to meet the continued impact of the COVID Omicron variant.
A report to the Community and Human Services Committee on Wednesday indicates the county will receive an additional $572,000 this year half from both the province and federal governments.
The funding is aimed at providing operating and capital expenses to mitigate the continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the homeless.
Staff had recommended funding be allocated to address immediate critical need for vulnerable persons including support for the homeless and individuals/families facing a crisis in order to prevent homelessness across Hastings County.
The committee approved recommendations that Bridge Street United Church receive $369,000, Maggie’s Resource Centre in Bancroft $10,450, Shiloh House in Belleville nearly $59,749 and Hastings County nearly $115,641 for rent and utility bank.
The committee approved these recommendations which now go to Hastings County Council for approval at the end of the month.
