Site preparation on new exhibition grounds for the Belleville Agricultural Society is underway and construction of buildings on the land near Black Diamond Road and Highway 401 will begin soon.
Meanwhile Monday, Belleville council signed off on a lease agreement with the Belleville Agricultural Society for the property.
It’s a 50-year lease, costing the society a nominal $2 a year.
The lease stipulates that the city will build an arena/conference centre while the society will be responsible for livestock and maintenance buildings.
