The Belleville Police Service has added a new member to its family.

Monday evening, Constable Ben Walden was sworn in as Belleville’s newest police officer at the Quinte Consolidated Courthouse.
Audio Player“I, Benjamin Mark Walden, solemnly swear that I will be loyal to Canada, that I will uphold the constitution of Canada, and that I will, to the best of my ability, preserve the peace, prevent offences and discharge my other duties as a police officer faithfully, impartially and according to law, so help me god.”
Walden previously worked with the Ontario Health, Home and Community Care services as a manager of clinical support and applications.

JusticeStephen Hunter, who has sworn in many of Belleville’s police force during his 30-year career, came out of retirement to preside over the ceremony.
Belleville has had policing since 1836, before both the OPP and RCMP were established in 1909 and 1920 respectively.
