The Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team of the OPP has charged two people after drugs were seized during a traffic stop.
On April 30, 2022 at approximately 8:30 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling west on Highway 401 in Loyalist Township.
During the investigation approximately 130 grams of suspected marijuana, 180 grams of suspected cocaine and methamphetamine, as well as 112 suspected xanax and oxycodone pills were seized. Canadian currency and drug paraphernalia were also seized.
As a result, Bijan Najafian, 20, and Taya Connor, 21, both of Toronto, were charged with:
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
- Possession of over 30g dried cannabis (or equivalent) in a public place
Najafian was further charged with:
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000
- Failure to comply with undertaking
- Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
- Fail to properly wear seat belt
Both were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on June 28, 2022.
