While the number of permits issued in Prince Edward County last month is about the same as April of 2021, the construction value of those permits is much higher this year.
In April, the County’s Building Department granted 88 permits worth $26.8 million.
The same month a year ago saw 90 permits worth only $15.6 million.
The year-to-date statistics show a similar trend.
Through April 30 of this year, 292 permits worth $75.3 million have been issued while there were 282 permits with a construction value of $37.2 million during the first four months of 2021.
Sixteen of the permits handed out last month were for new homes that collectively are worth more than $21.7 million.
