A candidate for the Bay of Quinte in the upcoming provincial election is taking a leave of absence from her role as a school board trustee for the duration of the campaign.
NDP candidate Allison Kelly says while she is not required to step away from the position while running, she does not want any advocacy she does at the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board to be misrepresented as political grandstanding.
She has also asked the Director of Education to redirect her honorarium during the election campaign to The Learning Foundation.
