Seniors Active Living Centres in Prince Edward County and Belleville are receiving money from the provincial government to support their programs.
The Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association will receive $49,462.24 and $47,000 is going to the City of Belleville’s Seniors 55+ program at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre.
Bay of Quinte MPP Todd Smith says the programming at these facilities will help keep local seniors active and socially connected within their own communities.
Barb Proctor, Chair of the Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association, says many of their programs have moved online during the pandemic and have become of vital importance to help seniors remain active and also to reduce social isolation.
Belleville Mayor Mitch Panciuk says the staff are always finding creative ways to support seniors at the centre and this funding will give them further resources to expand on those initiatives.
