The province’s Natural Gas Expansion Program will allow more than 60 homes, businesses and farms in Tweed to
connect to natural gas for the first time.
Hastings-Lennox and Addington MPP Daryl Kramp joined Enbridge Gas and Tweed Mayor Jo–Anne Albert and members of council on Monday to announce that under Phase 2 of the program, Ontario will allocate just over $3.8 million to support new connections to the natural gas distribution system
Mayor Albert says, “We are very happy that the Municipality of Tweed was one of the successful communities in the Province’s Natural Gas Expansion Program with Enbridge Gas. “This expansion will give over 180 new hook–ups in the municipality a chance to benefit from a more affordable source of energy.
The Tweed project is one of 28 expansion projects across the province.
Phase 2 construction began this year, with all 28 projects expected to be underway by the end of 2025.
Meanwhile upgrades are coming to some recreation facilities in Madoc Township.
Monday, Daryl Kramp announced a total of almost $123,000 for improvements to the Madoc Township Recreation Hall and Playground.
An accessible playground will be created and flooring and kitchen upgrades will be completed with the money.
The project’s cost will be split between Madoc Township and the provincial and federal governments.
