It’s the 71st annual Mental Health Week in Canada.
Executive Director of the Quinte region’s Enrichment Centre for Mental Health Sandie Sidsworth says people from all walks of life and economic circumstances experience mental health challenges and people around them should not be so quick to judge them and exclude them.
“It’s about making sure the circle is open for everyone and that we’re still inclusive and understanding that just like somebody doesn’t feel well physically with a cold, that today is not a good day for them.”
Sidsworth also says the COVID-19 pandemic has caused much more stress in the community than was present three years ago and people should be patient and sympathetic and offer all the help they can to people upset by unexpected illness or job loss.
