The Napanee Raiders’ season is done, for real this time.
In a strange turn of events, the Raiders and Clarington Eagles replayed game five following the successful Raiders’ appeal of a penalty issued to them in Thursday’s game, which they lost.
In that game, the referee gave the Raiders a bench penalty at the end of the pre-game warmup because a player didn’t leave the ice in time.
Napanee appealed the ruling saying it didn’t exist in the Provincial Junior Hockey League’s rule book.
League officials agreed and declared the teams play game 5 again Saturday afternoon in Bowmanville.
The Eagles won 4-3, officially eliminating Napanee.
