Attention City of Belleville building owners. The city is looking for a location for an overnight warming centre this winter.
Bridge Street United, which was the centre’s location this past winter, is not interested in operating it again and while Hastings County will pay for and operate the centre, city council must come up with a location by the end of June.
Anyone interested in providing a location should contact Belleville Fire Chief Monique Belair.
Meanwhile, city council is providing up to $25,000 in funding to allow for the centre to operate for every night in the winter should it be decided to do away with the current minus 10 degree temperature threshold.
