Belleville council is expected to approve this summer’s Pop-ups on the Bay leases at their regular council meeting on Monday.
There are three new Pop-ups on the Bay selected to operate this summer at West Zwick’s Park including Park Play Micro Golf, Obi’s Kitchen and Tropical Blends Cafe. Returning to West Zwick’s Park will be The Golden Scoop, Sugar Mama’s Bake Shop, Royal Haveli, Falafel Royale, Benji’s Cafe, Lemons, Brick Oven Pizza Food Truck and Gator’s Fries Food Truck.
This year, two new 20′ by 8′ units have been purchased that will accommodate four businesses; Venture Outfitters retail space, Discover Belleville – visitor services/engagement coordinator, and two rotating pop-up spaces. These rotating spaces will accommodate two new businesses and two new food trucks every two weeks.
The city approved $147,000 during budget deliberations to support this project and upgrade the existing units and service the park by making some enhancements to the park by adding a courtyard with tables for seating, lighting, a music system, planter troughs and awnings for increased shade.
This year, a change has been made to the days of operation. Vendors will be required to be open in June and September at a minimum of Friday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and in July and August to be open Wednesday to Sunday plus holiday Mondays.
Manager of Economic and Strategic Initiatives Karen Poste noted in her report to council large events are scheduled to return to West Zwick’s Park this summer as well.
