The Municipality is pleased to be working with MGA–McQueen Galloway Associates
(MGA) and GSP Group to develop strategies and recommendations to create and
improve the parks and trails system and recreation facilities to contribute to a strong,
livable, and healthy community.
Community consultation is a key piece to all components of this project and the
success of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan. Deputy Mayor Laura Knegt
encourages the community to get involved in all the community engagements planned
for the Study. The consultants will start engagements with community stakeholders,
Council, and staff, in early May.
“I understand that people are challenged with the pandemic, and the consultants have
developed an engagement strategy that supports input using a mix of virtual technology,
personal interviews, focus groups and an on–line survey throughout the project” states
the Deputy Mayor.
Tracey McQueen, Terry Alyman, Jennifer Reynolds will be the lead consultant (MGA)
and will be supported by Steve Wever (GSP) and Diane English who have worked on
various parks and recreation master plans in Ontario. They understand municipalities
like Brighton. Understanding the relationships with our partners and balancing residents
and visitors needs to urban, rural, and waterfront characteristics is what they are good
at.
