Belleville police responded to 281 calls for service over a 96-hour period from at 5 a.m. on April 15, 2022 to 5 a.m. onf Apri 19l, 2022.
Arrest on Warrants
On April 14, 2022 at 2:55 p.m., Belleville police, while patrolling the area of Front Street observed a male known to them to be wanted on outstanding warrants for Break & Enter, Mischief x2, Theft and Fail to Attend Court. Police arrested the 37-year-old Belleville male, Dustin Barnette and transported him to the Belleville Police Service where he was later released with a court date of the May 5, 2022.
Disturbance
On April 17, 2022 at 3:30 a.m., Belleville police were called to an east end apartment building regarding a disturbance. Officers arrived on the scene and located a male who did not reside in the building and was causing issues with tenants. The 38-year-old Belleville resident was arrested and charged with engaging in prohibited activity on the premise. He was released on a Provincial Offences notice.
Theft of Motor Vehicle
On April 17, 2022 at 1 a.m., a citizen walking in the west end of the city observed a vehicle in the parking lot of a business whose horn was sounding intermittently. The citizen felt this was suspicious and contacted the police. Belleville police officers arrived on the scene and located a male, who did not own the vehicle, in the driver’s seat. Further investigation revealed that the male had damaged the steering column and was attempting to start the vehicle to steal it. He was arrested and also found to be on a current probation order. As a result, 39-year-old Matthew Brant of Deseronto was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, mischief, and breaching his probation order. He was held for a bail hearing on April 17, 2022.
