Securing precious cargo needs to be top of mind when driving with a child on board. Parents and guardians do not always receive training on proper installation and securing techniques of car seats and can sometimes put their child at risk if involved in a collision.
In collaboration with Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue, Highland Shores Children’s Aid and Picton Foodland, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Prince Edward County Detachment is hosting a child seat clinic April 30, 2022 from 10:00-2:00. There will be trained car seat installers to assist with proper installation techniques. Individuals are invited to drive through the Picton Firehall at 8 McDonald Drive where they will meet these trainers and receive lunch thanks to Picton Foodland all at no charge.
With the Easter long weekend just ahead of the car seat clinic, the OPP would like to remind everyone to buckle up. The OPP will be conducting a provincial seat belt campaign over the long weekend where officers will focus on seat belt enforcement and education to raise awareness about the important role seat belts play in saving lives. As a driver or passenger, it is important to respect the lifesaving value of a seat belt and the proven fact that the best position to be in during a crash is securely fastened in your seat.
