A Brighton councillor continues to push for a new hotel in Brighton.
The issue was once again brought up for brief discussion during Thursday’s Economic Development Advisory Committee.
A 2020 consultant’s report has shown the community could sustain a new 60-room hotel and Councillor Ron Anderson says the issue has been deferred to their May meeting but that it’s time to get moving.
“Put the word out in some way of either marketing or something, that we are looking for serious investors and serious operators, whether it be a hotel, inn or grand resort. Just some good accommodations for families, business and travellers.”
While the consultant’s report suggested the ideal location would be just off Highway 401, council would prefer something in Brighton because the land by the highway is not serviced.
Councillor Anderson believes it’s not a matter of if it will happen, but when.
