Prince Edward County Fire & Rescue reports a fire near Ameliasburgh Thursday morning claimed the lives of 200 head of livestock.
Stations five and six responded to a barn fire 1540 County Road 19, just west of Snider Road, just before 9 o’clock.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the inside of a 10 x 10 metre building attached to a large barn, however the livestock housed inside that smaller building were lost.
Damages are estimated at $150,000.
The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental.
