Changes could be coming to the way Prince Edward County’s Affordable Housing Corporation is run.
At Tuesday’s council meeting, councillors will consider a staff recommendation to implement a hybrid governance model for the Housing Corporation.
The Affordable Housing Corporation was established as an arms-length organization in December 2018 to find ways to increase the supply of affordable housing in the County.
The hybrid model that staff is proposing would allow the corporation to maintain an independent board while the day-to-day operations and project implementation work would be done by municipal staff.
The board would be able to fundraise, set strategic direction and develop housing projects while having the municipality run day-to-day operations allowing for more work to be done while saving time and money.
