Another Conservative leadership hopeful will be in Belleville.
MPP Roman Baber will be at The Belleville Club on Friday beginning at 7 p.m. to meet residents and discuss why he would make the ideal leader of the federal Conservative party.
Baber is currently touring Eastern Ontario and says he is uniquely positioned for this role.
“I’m running to restore Canada’s democracy, opportunity and trust in government. I stood up for Canadians when it was unpopular and I won’t rest until I restore all rights for all Canadians. I’ve also been blessed with Canadian opportunity and I will restore opportunity with a robust energy, housing and economic plan. I’m uniquely positioned to unite the Conservative party and I will bring determination and authenticity to lead it.”
He is the MPP representing York Centre, the region west of North York. He is an Independent, as Baber was formerly a member of the Progressive Conservative (PC) Party until he was removed by Premier Doug Ford, the party leader, for drafting a letter against the PC government’s COVID-19 measures.
Baber says even if he isn’t as well known as his competition, he believes he can do what is right by Canadians if elected the leader of the federal Conservative party.
“I have been very blessed with a lot of support across the country by standing up for what I believe to be right. I have been known to stand up for Canadians even when it was unpopular. And it is indeed true, I’m in my first term and not a career politician, unlike most of my competition. I bring private sector experience, and authenticity and determination to do what is right by Canadians.”
The event at The Belleville Club is free to attend.
