The man who operates 10 vending machines on his home’s driveway in Belleville’s west end will have his day before the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT) soon.
Juan Hernandez, an Octavia Street homeowner appealed council’s decision to reject his appeal for rezoning to allow him to continue operating the vending machines which he’d had for several years with no issues with the city until recently.
The prevailing opinion on council was that the business was in contravention of the Official Plan and zoning by-laws and if allowed to continue would set a dangerous precedent in other residential neighbourhoods.
The Tribunal hearing will be held May 24 and Hernandez is raising money for legal fees through GoFundMe.
