REGENT THEATRE TO CONTINUE VACCINE CHECKS AND MASK MANDATE
PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, ON – The Regent Theatre announced today that it will continue to require patrons to show proof of vaccination before entry to the theatre, and will continue to require the use of masks.
“We have to keep the safety of our audience and our volunteers in mind,” said board chair Benjamin Thornton. “We felt it was premature to drop all safeguards.”
Thornton said in a statement that the decision by the Board of Directors will be reviewed in 30 days taking into consideration the prevalence of COVID-19 in the community at that time.
The Regent has recently returned to operating at full capacity, and is anticipating several sold-out shows in the coming weeks, including a concert by musician Matt Andersen this Friday night.
“With full houses, it’s important that we do everything we can to keep everyone safe,” said Thornton. “The community really missed the Regent when we were closed during the height of the pandemic. We trust that we can rely on people’s patience to abide by these simple safety measures so everyone can feel comfortable seeing a show at the theatre.”
Ticketholders to upcoming shows will be notified of the decision by email.
About The Regent Theatre Our story began in 1918, when self-made Greek immigrant George Cook had a vision: build a spectacular hub for entertainment in his new home of Picton. Fast forward 100 years, 1000s of inspiring performances, and countless magical moments experienced by audiences, and we continue to be Prince Edward County’s only purpose-built cinema and live performance venue. But we’re also so much more. We’re proud to:
• Share culture – including the very best of movies, live performance, special events and digital programming.
• Spark connection – we’re a gathering space for audiences, artists (we especially love our local creators!) and the wider community.
• Steward history – we take our responsibility to maintain our beautiful, heritage-listed theatre seriously. We also enjoy sharing it through rentals to individuals, presenters and community groups.
