Quinte West is hoping to get moving on a major trail extension with the help of the federal government.
Monday night city council voted to apply for funding from the government’s Active Transportation Fund.
If Quinte West’s application is approved the government could provide up to 60% of the estimated $3.6 million cost of extending the waterfront trail from Centennial Park to Bain Park.
That extension would see 1.7 kilometres of three-metre wide trail with solar lighting, pedestrian bridges, fitness areas, gazebo and seating areas, and new landscaping, among other features.
