A Flood Outlook Statement has been issued for the Lower Trent Watershed region (area stretching from Grafton to Quinte West and from Lake Ontario to Rice Lake and east to Centre Hastings).
Lower Trent Conservation says some nuisance flooding may occur in low-lying areas but widespread flooding is not anticipated.
With warmer temperatures creating snow melt and runoff, and 15-25 mm of rain forecast this weekend, most of it on Saturday, the still-frozen ground will not absorb much of that water.
Officials say water currents are strong and temperatures are still dangerously cold this time of year and they are advising people to stay away from waterways including avoiding areas around dams, culverts and bridges.
LTC staff continue to monitor the situation.
The current Flood Outlook Statement will be in effect until Monday March 21.
