Belleville city council will move to have a stone building that was built in the early- to mid-19th century designated as being of cultural heritage value.
The building, now being used as a residence, is located at 68 Moira Street East and experts describe it as a unique and excellent example of a Loyalist-style stone building.
A designated property is regulated so as not to allow owners to renovate in such a way that would destroy a building’s historical features.
It’s official.
Belleville city council has approved a proposal that would see a three-storey Tru by Hilton hotel built on Millennium Parkway.
The developer initially presented plans for a five-storey hotel and then a four-storey building but residents on Cloverleaf Drive pushed back, not wanting anything to do with such a large structure near their homes.
The three-storey plan meets the city’s current zoning for the area and the developer has increased the distance the hotel will be from residents’ properties considerably.
The hotel would be built next to Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services.
