Belleville city council is stepping up its game when it comes to a focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
At its meeting Monday council will join the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Partners in Climate Protection Program.
Chair of the city’s Green Task Force, Councillor Chris Malette, said membership will provide valuable information and a step by step process to follow.
Malette outlines one of the first projects the city would undertake.
“It’s going to take some city staff to itemize and do an inventory of some of our greenhouse gas emission locations but once we get that list in place then we can identify ways to do better.”
The Climate Protection Program would take 10 years to implement in full.
