From April 24 to 30, 2022, Volunteer + Information HPE along with Volunteer Canada will celebrate Canada’s 24 million volunteers during National Volunteer Week (NVW) 2022.
This annual celebration is a time to thank and recognize volunteers from coast to coast to coast.
Volunteer + Information HPE acts on behalf of both volunteers and organizations/events recruiting
volunteers.
We recognize the importance of volunteers in our region and are asking for nominations for
our NVW awards.
Ruth Burrow’s Volunteer of the Year award was established in 1990 and is presented to an individual
who has made an outstanding and exceptional contribution to the community by volunteering of their
time, ideas and demonstrating volunteerism as a core value.
The Maurice Rollins Youth Leadership Award honors an outstanding young leader between the ages of
16–24. The recipient actively volunteers their time for organizations, community groups, schools, and
strives to contribute to the betterment of our community. This award includes a bursary donated by the
Maurice Rollins Family.
Businessperson Volunteer Appreciation Award is presented to a business professional who gives of their
time, skills, and resources to support local not–for–profit agencies and help improve the quality of living
within our community.

National Volunteer Week 2022 Events:
April 25–29 – various activities will be hosted by agencies and organizations around HPE to thank their
volunteers. As well, Volunteer + Information HPE will provide surprise recognition to nominated
volunteers by our member agencies.
April 30 – In partnership with the National Air Force Museum of Canada; we will be hosting a NVW
Celebration and Awards presentation. Doors will open at 9am and agencies will attend with their
volunteers to celebrated with other agencies and dignitaries. This is a ticketed event.
