Belleville police responded to 157 calls for service over the weekend beginning at 5 a.m. on March 11, 2022 to 5 a.m. on March 14, 2022.
Extortion
On March 13, 2022, at 2:30 p.m., police received a call from a male advising that he was being extorted over the internet. The complainant advised that he had sent intimate images to someone he had been chatting with online that he thought was female. Once the images were sent, the male was then threatened that they would be sent to family or friends if he did not pay to get them back. Belleville police are warning that this type of occurrence is happening more frequently and are urging people to use caution with who they speak to over the internet.
Stolen vehicle
On March 12, 2022, at 8:30 a.m., police received a call regarding a stolen vehicle. It was reported that a white 2014 GMC Terrain with licence plate CRSP824 was taken from the complainant’s driveway on Johnson Street. Anyone with information is asked to call the Belleville Police Service.
Arrested on warrant
On March 13, 2022 at 12:45 a.m., police observed a male known to them to be wanted walking on Bridge Street West. Police stopped the male and he was arrested. Dillon Kerr, 30, of Belleville was arrested on a warrant for failing to comply with a release order. He was held in custody for a bail hearing on March 13, 2022.
