The Belleville Senators won a Wednesday afternoon matinee at CAA Arena 4 – 1 over the Providence Bruins.
It was a make-up game for one postponed in December due to COVID issues.
Lassi Thomson, Jake Lucchini, Mark Kastelic and Cole Reinhardt scored for the B-Sens.
Thomson opened the scoring on the power play just 2:16 into the first.
Logan Shaw and Kastelic assisted on Thomson’s seventh of the season.
The Bruins’ Eduards Tralmaks tied it up at 6:37 of the second.
Mads Sogaard took over the netminding duties for Kevin Mandolese in the third period after Mandolese had to be helped off the ice at the end of the second, appearing to have suffered an injury.
Lucchini scored what would prove to be the winner just 49 seconds into the third period.
His 16th of the season was assisted by Egor Sokolov and Andrew Agozzino.
Kastelic, assisted by Reinhardt and Shaw, made it 3 – 1 at 6:42 and Reinhardt scored a shorthanded empty netter for the 4 – 1 final.
Belleville outshot Providence 36 – 25 including 20 – 5 in the third period.
With the win, Belleville sweeps the season series with the Bruins.
The B-Sens are headed to Winnipeg for two games this weekend.
