Belleville police had a busy weekend responding to 187 calls for service over a 72-hour period from 5 a.m. on March 5, 2022 to 5 a.m. on March 7, 2022.
Disturbance
On March 4, 2022 at 7:20 a.m., Belleville police attended a restaurant on Dundas Street West for the report of a disturbance. Investigation showed a male was yelling and acting up with customers. A check revealed the male was wanted by Belleville police for failing to appear in court. As a result, 55-year-old Dwayne Redcliffe of no fixed address was arrested for the warrant and held for a show cause hearing.
Warrants
On March 5, 2022 at approximately 10:30 a.m., Quinte West OPP arrested Dillon Kerr on the strength of several outstanding warrants held by the Belleville Police Service. Kerr was wanted for mischief, fail to attend court, fail to comply with probation order and, fail to comply with an undertaking. He was transported to the Belleville Police Service by Quinte West Provincial Police where he was held for a show cause hearing.
On March 5, 2022 at 6:20 p.m., Belleville police responded to Coleman Street regarding a suspicious person. Police located a male matching the description of the suspicious person in the area. Police were familiar with the male and were aware that he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for possession of crystal methamphetamine and possession of counterfeit currency. After a short foot pursuit, 26-year-old Ibrahim Muhia of Belleville was arrested for the warrants, transported to the Belleville Police Service, and held for a show cause hearing.
Assault
On March 5, 2022 at 10 p.m,. Belleville police responded to the area of Farley Avenue regarding an unwanted person. Police were advised while on route that the unwanted female was intoxicated and out of control. Upon arrival, a police investigation revealed the unwanted female, 26-year-old Samantha Rief from Belleville had assaulted a female in the residence. Police arrested Samantha Rief for assault and transported her to the Belleville Police Service where she was later released when sober with a court date of March 31, 2022.
Resist Peace Officer, Assault, Assault with Weapon, Weapons Dangerous and Utter Threats
On March 5, 2022 at approximately 3:05 p.m., Belleville police were dispatched to the area of Millennium Parkway regarding a disturbance involving a knife. A male had been confronted by a concerned citizen regarding him yelling at and hitting his daughter in the back of his pickup truck. The male proceeded to pull a knife and threaten the citizen. The knife had been removed from the male’s possession before police arrival after a physical altercation with another citizen. Police attended and successfully arrested the 53-year-old Marmora male. He was transported to the Belleville Police Service where he was held for a show cause hearing for charges of resist peace officer, assault, assault with weapon, weapons dangerous, and utter threats. The name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the youth victim.
Warrants
On March 6, 2022 at approximately 8:45 p.m., Belleville police responded to a business on Bell Blvd. regarding a threat’s call. Officers attended and the investigation revealed one of the involved parties, a 22-year-old male, was wanted on an outstanding warrant by the Leeds County OPP for failing to appear in court. The male was arrested by Belleville police officers and transported to the Napanee OPP detachment where he was further transported to Leeds County and held for a show cause hearing.
