Belleville police responded to 66 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5 a.m. on March 1, 2022 to 5 a.m. on March 2, 2022.
Arrest on warrant
On March 1, 2022 at 9:39 p.m., Belleville Police Service was on patrol in the College Street East and St. Charles Streetarea and conducted a vehicle stop. While the vehicle was stopped police noticed a male in the back seat attempting to hide his face. The male was recognized as somebody who had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court. As a result, 34r-year-old Belleville resident Zachary Balciunas was arrested and held for a bail hearing onMarch 2, 2022.
Domestic Assault
On March 1, 2022 at 2:30 p.m., Belleville police received a report of a disturbance at an apartment building on Sidney Street. Upon arrival they were directed to an apartment where the disturbance was happening. Police spoke to a couple and it was revealed that a male had been assaulted by his ex-girlfriend. As a result of the investigation the 33-year-old female Belleville resident was arrested and charged with one count of domestic assault. She was later released with a court date of March 21, 2022. The name of the accused is not being released to protect the identity of the victim.
