Belleville City Council will hear the results of a survey regarding transit service in the Cannifton area in the coming weeks.
The Route 9 service has been running on a trial basis paid for by the gas tax however that money will run out in September.
The online survey open to residents in the Cannifton Urban and Cannifton Rural tax billing areas closed late last week.
Survey questions included whether people living in that area would approve of paying an extra $210 per year in taxes to partially pay for the service.
General Manager of Transportation and Operations, Joe Reid tells Quinte News the survey received about 750 responses.
He says they are currently reviewing the data and will present a report to council at a meeting later this month.
At a recent meeting Councillor Bill Sandison suggested the service could continue through next March with funding from the federal Safe Restart Agreement and the provincial gas tax avoiding a tax impact on Ward 2 residents for this year.
