Free parking will continue on the streets and parking lots in Trenton’s downtown until at least the summer.
Tuesday Quinte West council voted to defer any decision on reinstating parking charges via meters until at least June.
Councillor Sally Freeman pushed back against the idea of reinstating parking fees saying downtown businesses need time to recover after being battered by pandemic restrictions and lockdowns.
Meanwhile staff is working on a hybrid parking fee model whereby free street parking would be available for only a set time while parking in lots would continue to be metered.
