The Rotary Clubs of Belleville, Trenton and Wellington are among five area Rotary Clubs that have helped deliver more than 100 laptops and other electronic devices to a Northern Ontario fly-in community.
The Rotary Indigenous Peoples Partnership Cluster has been working with the Nibinamik Education Centre or Summer Beaver School located in Nibinamik, almost 500 km northeast of Thunder Bay for the last couple of years.
After a request for some laptops for the school, the Rotary Clubs worked to obtain 82 laptops, five Chromebooks, five iPads, seven tablets and three cell phones.
The community has had StarLink internet since the summer and the teachers are trying to incorporate more technology into their teachings.
The Rotary Clubs of Cataraqui – Kingston and Palgrave were also involved.
