Daryl Kramp has effectively served the residents of Belleville and the Quinte Region extremely well since his election as Member of Parliament in 2004. Since that time he has served our community and delivered in so many ways as both a federal MP and as a provincial MPP since 2018. On behalf of City Councils, both past and present, as well as the residents of the City of Belleville, I want to thank him for his 18 years of service.
We would not have the Belleville of today if not for the efforts of Daryl Kramp. From the expansion of the QSWC, the construction of the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge, the Bay Bridge, additional programs and technology at Loyalist College, the expansion of Bell Blvd. West and the new construction for the YMCA here in Belleville (and many other investments) Daryl Kramp has successfully advocated for our residents.
There are also significant projects currently underway for which we are awaiting decisions of the federal and provincial governments for funding. It is hard to imagine a federal or provincial representative who has been so instrumental in the development of our city in the 206 year history of Belleville.
Perhaps the most important contribution Daryl Kramp has made for the benefit of Belleville was in his work to protect jobs in the manufacturing sector in Belleville and securing capital, training and research funding for our industries. The Manufacturing Resource Centre, Trenval and the Quinte Economic Development Commission have all been fiercely defended by Daryl Kramp during his time in office and we have seen the preservation of literally thousands of jobs.
It is unfortunate that health concerns have cut short this amazing career as a representative. We understand and agree with his decision and are grateful for all he has done for our community and for our future prosperity and quality of life. With respect and appreciation, we wish Daryl Kramp and his family good health and happiness in his retirement.
