In the final three months of 2021, the Project Renewal team was quite busy.
Belleville Police Deputy Chief Chris Barry presented the Belleville Police Services Board with the fourth quarter report for Project Renewal on Thursday morning in council chambers.
There were eight investigations conducted which resulted in nine people arrested and 24 charges laid.
Deputy Chief Barry said they work very closely with the OPP as part of Project Renewal.
“We’ve got to share the credit because we have three Ontario Provincial Police officers that work out of our building as a joint task force Project Renewal. So it’s a team effort in this community, recognizing that drug trafficking doesn’t recognize borders, so we’re very fortunate to have those officers working in conjunction with ours.”
Of the nine people arrested, six were residents and three were non-residents.
There was $28,725 worth of drugs seized, $2,445 cash seized along with cellphones, drug paraphernalia and a .22 calibre rifle.
