Closed-circuit television footage helped Quinte West OPP link two incidents in Trenton to one individual.
Police were called Thursday evening when a Bay Street resident found an unwanted male sleeping in their mudroom.
The person was gone when officers arrived but was identified with the assistance of CCTV footage.
An officer on patrol observed the suspect on Dundas Street early Friday afternoon and arrested him without incident.
At that time, a Dundas Street West business reported that a male matching the description of the accused had, only minutes earlier, attempted to gain access to a cash register, threw it onto the floor, then left the business.
