A local Freedom Convoy is expected to draw a lot of participants Wednesday in Quinte West.
Several groups from the Quinte region will gather at Trenton’s Centennial Park, creating a convoy heading to City Hall in protest against vaccine mandates and other restrictions.
Organizer Curtis Chamberlain says the COVID-19 restrictions really hit home when his mother-in-law was dealing with cancer recently.
“When she was going through chemo she wasn’t able to have anybody at all in with her so she had no support at all. These mandates are crippling our community, our small town businesses are shut down because of this.”
The mother-in-law is now at home recovering.
The convoy will form in Centennial Park at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Chamberlain says they plan a peaceful protest at City Hall and have no plans to stay overnight or cause serious disruptions.
