Erin O’Toole has been ousted as Conservative Party of Canada leader after 73 members of the Tory caucus voted to replace him.
Forty-five endorsed O’Toole’s leadership.
Caucus members are now going to choose an interim leader and New Brunswick MP John Williamson was quick to post on social media that he’d like to have the job.
Quebec MP Pierre Paul-Hus says the party is more united than ever after this morning’s vote and want to move forward so they can win the next election.
Philip Lawrence MP for Northumberland—Peterborough South commented to Quinte News.
He is the shadow Minister of National Revenue in the Conservative Party’s shadow cabinet.
Commenting on O’Toole’s departure, Lawrence tells Quinte News he’s looking forward to a new leader.
“What Canada really needs is a strong unified Conservative party and I’m looking forward to moving forward with the new interim leader whoever that is, going forward, because Canadians need us more than ever. More than 50% of Canadians are within $200 of insolvency. The price of everything, housing to gas and groceries is going up. We need to be strong and I know we will.”
