The number of active cases of COVID-19 among people considered at high risk from the illness has dropped considerably in Hastings and Prince Edward Public Health.
Friday public health officials reported 397 active infections, down from the 535 reported Wednesday.
On a more sombre note two more people have died from COVID-19 related causes in local hospitals.
Both persons were in the 70-plus age group. The number of people who have died from COVID is now up to 36 in Hastings-Prince Edward.
Meanwhile 81% of the two counties’ population age five and up have had two doses of vaccine and 48% have received booster shots.

There were 15 new high risk cases in Northumberland Friday.
The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit dashboard shows 127 active cases.
