Quinte West arenas to reopen Jan. 31
QUINTE WEST, Jan. 21, 2022 – The Duncan McDonald Memorial Community Gardens in Trenton and the Dr. McMullen Recreation Centre in Frankford are set to reopen on Jan. 31 following Thursday’s announcement from the Government of Ontario.
On Jan. 20, 2022, the provincial government announced changes to COVID-19 public health measures that permit the reopening of indoor recreation facilities with restrictions. Both of the City’s rinks will reopen Jan. 31 for bookings, rentals and public skating, with COVID-19 safety measures, such as capacity restrictions and proof of vaccination, in effect. Food and drink are not permitted upon the reopening and the concession stand will remain closed.
Visitors to the arena are reminded that an enhanced vaccine certificate with a printed or digital QR code and ID is required under the province’s reopening framework. Vaccine certificates with QR codes can be downloaded at www.ontario.ca/get-proof.
“We are excited to welcome community members back into the City’s arenas to enjoy activities that benefit their physical and mental health,” says Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison. “City staff have been working hard to maintain the ice during the temporary closure, and we look forward to welcoming residents back to enjoy these facilities again.”
