Skaters can soon return to the outdoor rink in Tyendinaga Township.
Monday, council recognized the importance of the rink and directed recreation staff to prepare it for use.
Preparation for the outdoor ice surface at the Recreation Grounds on McFarlane Road began in November but was discontinued just before Christmas due to COVID-19 concerns.
CAO Carla Preston did not give an opening date but says it is expected to be ready shortly.
There will be rules in place to prevent the spread of COVID, including a thirty minute time limit for skating and no more than 10 people at a time on the rink surface.
